All you're doing here is reserving a space at the table.  Why is this important?
Because if you have a large database, you will undoubtedly have duplication in your database with others such as Twitter, Burger King, etc.  By reserving your space now, you take no risk, never upload any data (and never will) and simply reserve your database for less de-duplication and hence reduction in size, i.e., less money for you and your company!!
